Building Bulletin

Dear friends

By now you can’t have failed to notice that the building project is well underway. A huge thank you for your grace and patience during this time, especially to the crèche and children’s workers for their willingness of heart and flexibility while the temporary arrangements were finalized...

What’s happened so far? The external and internal demolition is now completed, with the foyer and the vestry being removed. This then allowed for the piling work to commence. The piles are 20 meter deep drill holes which are then filled with steel bars and concrete.
Next the builders will build a network of interconnecting beams and blocks forming the foundations and a platform onto which the new structure will be built. And in 2 weeks time another structure is being built in the back garden of the vicarage to accommodate the crèche groups. It’s all very exciting really.

At the end of the summer we should be in a position to begin constructing the new build itself, with the new interior meetings rooms, toilets, kitchen etc should be completed in time for the Christmas carol services, and the external extension being completed in January. When we shall cut the ribbon, have a huge party and celebrate again what God is doing in our amazing church.

Many of you have been asking where we are financially. The final cost to us was slightly higher than hoped for at £1,000,048, which means we do have a small shortfall of funds of £100,000.

I know many of you have already given very generously, and others have indicated they will give, but have not yet done so. If you haven’t yet given, or don’t give to the church or are able to help again, then would you think about doing so. On the 21st September we will hold a special service where there will be an opportunity for us to respond to this.

In the meantime do pray, that the money will be found, the build progress will stay on course and for the many opportunities that will come through this amazing new facility.

God bless

Steve
